Mint Green & Gold | NYE Look #1

Here's my first New Year's Eve look! It's very easy to add your own touch by swapping the liner to your favourite colour. Like I say in the video, I planned to use white liner for this look, but I'm glad I decided to switch to gold because the colours work so well together. I'll have to play around with white liner another day. I hope you like it!

MUA LUXE Velvet Lip Lacquers

Today I wanted to share with you the new MUA Velvet Lip Lacquers. Every now and then I check out the MUA website for new things, and when I saw these I immediately added all five colours to my basket. My guess is that they're supposed to be like the Lime Crime Velvetines. In the same way that they do dupes for the Urban Decay Naked palettes (Undress Me & Undress Me Too).

The Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev | Met Gala Hair & Makeup

Hey! Here's my take on Nina Dobrev's look at the 2013 Met Gala. I've had this photo saved in my 'Inspiration' folder on my computer ever since the Gala back in May, so I figured it was about time I actually did it!

Katy Perry Inspired Holiday Look | Makeup, Hair & Nails

Hey, you! Today's look is a 3 in 1. Makeup, hair & nails all inspired by Katy Perry's look at the 2013 AMAs. It's not supposed to be exact, but I just loved the whole old Hollywood glamour vibe and thought it would be a perfect holiday look. I hope you enjoy!
Make sure to hashtag #emmapickles if you recreate any of my looks because I love seeing your recreations!

Black Cherry

Hello chickchicks!
Today's look is my current lazy go-to look. I find when I don't wear as many colours on the lid and I smoke out my liner I'm done in half the time. ^_^

Romwe Black Friday Sale

Hey guys!
I just thought I'd let you know that Romwe are having a massive sale from now (26th) 'til the 30th and you should totally get in on it.
I've listed below a few items I already own and a few I have sat in my shopping bag right now. It's kind of like a gift guide, but not, because don't buy these for other people... buy them for yourself. Mehehe.

 Cat Ear Ski Cap

I own 9 out the 12 things I've listed, so for those of you who always ask about my style... there you go! You can click on the photos and it should go straight to the item page on their site so you don't have to hunt them down. OR you can check out the rest of their stuff here. And let me know if you end up getting anything! ^_^

Evening Eyes

Hello lovely humans!
When I film my videos, unless it's a character look, I never actually have a name or theme in mind, I just film and see what I come up with. But I think this look turned out perfect for the upcoming party season. Even though it's quite heavy the colours make it look classy and feminine and it would look beautiful for any evening do. (Or just rock it while shopping in Tesco like I did, you don't need an excuse to wear pretty makeup. ;))

I bought a bunch of MUA products recently and really wanted to do a look with one of their eyeshadow trios. It was nice not having to jump from palette to palette. And even nicer not to have to list a million products below, mehe.

Supernatural: Abaddon

Hello lovelies!
Today's video was heavily requested for Halloween but I didn't get a wig in time and the look wouldn't have been right without it. I hope you still enjoy the video! I always find with this kind of cosplay it's best to still look like yourself in the face but make sure things like the costume and hair etc are accurate so people can tell who you are. That way you don't need to worry about buying new foundation shades etc. I decided to do the video in two parts so those of you who don't care about Supernatural still get a (hopefully) useful tutorial out of it. :)

Autumnal

Today's look was all about the lipstick for me. One of my subscribers recommended MAC's lipstick in the shade Diva, and ever since I've been absolutely obsessed with it. I also bought a few new eyeshadows from MAC and decided to include them in the look too. I hope you like it!

Halloween Makeup Ideas | Collaboration with Delights

I have been working my butt off over the past couple of weeks making videos for a party supplies company called Delights. Which might explain the lack of videos on my own channel, but hopefully you can watch these ones and they will make up for it!

They're perfect for mommas who don't have a lot of time to get ready. I challenged myself to complete each one in 10 to 15 minutes so I know it can be done! Make sure to tag #delights_uk and #emmapickles if you post your recreations anywhere!

Check out the tutorials here.

As for videos on my own channel, I've basically given up on Halloween this year which makes me really sad. I've had so many looks planned for ages but then I moved into my own place and all my money went 'poof!' and I just haven't had the funds to buy all the things I needed for the tutorials. (And I refuse to do things half-arsed.) Luckily it's Halloween all year round on my channel so it's not the end of the world. Check out the playlist below for some Halloween inspiration. :)

Emma Pickles & Romwe

Hello everyone!
A while ago Romwe contacted me and asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them and create my own design for their site. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and here it is! I submitted a few designs and this was the one they chose so don't think I'm really egotistical and only submitted one with my face on, hahaha. This was actually my least favourite design but hey, I'm 19 with my name on a clothing label, I'm not complaining! And if you're wondering how on earth that is my face, click here to watch my skull makeup video. (How much has my accent changed since then?!)

Description
'Super soft black vest, featuring a round neck and sleeveless design, white long-haired skull printed, stretch fabric for a tight fit. Perfect basic to go with shorts and pants!'

Buy here! (This isn't an affiliate link; I won't get anything from you buying this design.)

What I'm wearing:
Headband
Jacket (From Romwe but unavailable)
Vest
MAC Lipstick (Flat Out Fabulous)

Sexy Vampire

Hello lovelies!
Today's look is a sexy vampire. This isn't exactly how I imagine vampires, but I think it serves theatrical/costume purposes. Enjoy!

Barry M Cappuccino Nail Paint

Barry M Nail Paint (Shade: Cappuccino np341)

At the moment I'm in love with Barry M's Nail Paint in Cappuccino. I usually just reach for black polish as it goes with everything, but this colour has fast become my new go-to. It's just so beautiful! It's like... a muted purple clay, or a purple-y mushroom colour.
If you're not familiar with Barry M Nail Paints then you should definitely check them out if you can. They're cheap but that doesn't reflect the quality of them at all. They definitely need a base and top coat to last, but the formula is lovely and opaque so you don't have too much waiting around for your nails to dry. Their normal Paints cost £2.99, which I guess explains why I end up buying one every time I go to Superdrug. Mehehe.

Yorkshire Words with Brad WOTO

Hello you!
I hope you're all well.
Today's video is a little bit different and if you like it then I'm probably going to do more of this style of video in the future! I'm from Halifax in West Yorkshire so I decided to test Brad on his knowledge of Yorkshire words. Since moving to London I've realised that so many of the words I've used my entire life don't really exist. It's like my entire life has been a lie, hahaha. Enjoy!

Did you know any of them?

We also did a video over on Brad's 2nd channel wherein Brad tests me on my knowledge of him!

Scary Clown

OH HEY.
Sooooo. Here's my next tutorial! I'm sorry if this creeps a lot of people out. But it needed to be done. My channel has been lacking in creepy recently and I love me some creepy so it needed fixing. Also Halloween is fast approaching, so hopefully some of you will get some use out of this! :)

Woodland Fairy

Hey! Here is my first Halloween video of this year! I know it's not particularly Halloween-y... But it's a costume look and I loved walking around my house dressed like a fairy all day, so hopefully some of you will enjoy walking around in the outside world dressed like a fairy on the one day of the year it's socially acceptable to, hahaha.

Frosty Midnight Forest

Hey!
Today's look I decided to make up on the spot. I decided to use colours I rarely use, like the green, silver, and pink because I really needed to step out of my comfort zone of dark smokey looks. I've also decided that I need to do this way more often. Not because I'm not happy with my standard smokey eyes, because I am, that's my thing. But for creativity's sake. I'm going to challenge myself to branch out over the next few months and see where that leaves me and what my go-to look ends up being.
(Also ignore my stained hair line, my hair is freshly dyed. ;)

July Favourites & Mini Update

Hey! I say it in the video but I'll say it again. I am soooo sorry I haven't uploaded for a while! I've been busy. Sometimes life gets in the way of things. And sometimes you spontaneously decide to move 200 miles away from home and have to relocate your entire life, hahaha. I'm back now and I'm back for good. And I'll be able to upload way more often (once I've settled in properly) because I now have the time and space to film. Many of you won't know but for the past year or so I've kind of been living in two places; Halifax and London. London is where my life is, where my boyfriend is, where my friends are, where I get work! So every two weeks I would go down and spend a week in London and then spend two weeks at home bored out of my skull. I would have to pre-film videos for the week that I wasn't at home because obviously my filming equipment was in Halifax. But now I won't have to do that! I can just live my life and not have to worry about planning ahead so much.
Back in Halifax my bedroom was in my mom's attic, I couldn't even stand up! So filming at the best of times was always a pain. But during summer it is actually impossible. I had to sleep in the living room because of the heat in that little greenhouse room. Filming with two really hot massive lamps shining in my face was not the most fun, hahaha. So this opportunity to move could not have come at a better time!

Here are my July Favourites! Tutorials will continue as normal this week! :)

Bold Smokey Eyes

Today's look is a bold smokey eye. I know most of my looks are smokey eyes, but that's just because it's pretty much the only style that works on my eyes. If you have hooded lids then smokey eyes will be your best friend for life! I decided to show the look with three different lip colours; red, nude, & pink. I think it's really interesting to see how much difference a different lip colour can make.

When I first did this look the bright pink lipstick was my favourite, but then I found myself edging more towards the red. It just looks so fierce and bold! And Megan Fox-y for some reason. I think maybe I only think that because of how it looks with my dark hair, though. As always the nude was my least favourite. I will never be a nude lipstick kind of gal. Pale skin and nude lips are a no no for me.

IMATS London

I was lucky enough to be able to go to IMATS for the first time this year! IMATS stands for International Make-Up Artist Trade Show, for those of you wondering. It's basically a must go to gathering for any makeup enthusiast. There are demonstrations from makeup professionals, talks on stage, and of course you have to chance to buy makeup and tools with a nice little discount. Read more about it here.

I had an entirely different plan for how I wanted my IMATS coverage to go. I wanted to do a nice little 'follow me around' type video, complete with an outfit of the day and a haul at the end. Needless to say, this didn't happen, and that's why you're reading about my nooby IMATS experience here rather than watching a video right now. I was so overwhelmed by the amount of people, and how hot it was, and how late I was, that I never got round to filming anything. In fact, all I managed to get was this photo of me and Klaire and blurry photo of this colourful lady's nipple tassels. I feel like this year's IMATS was kind of like a trial run, and next year I'll know what's what and I'll be able to take you along with me.

I'm going to show you what I bought in a moment, but first here are some IMATS survival tips from a first timer:
  • SET YOURSELF A BUDGET. Honestly. I didn't buy loads of stuff, but my bank account doesn't feel that way, haha!
  • Get cash out before you get into the venue. Many vendors were only accepting cash so the queues at the cash points were crazy.
  • Don't be shy. If you're waiting to buy something then let the person selling know. Don't stand around waiting for their attention or you'll be there all day.
  • Don't buy on your first walk around. Have a look at everything they have to offer first or you'll end up getting to the fifth stall and you'll have spent all your money.
  • Write a list! Check the exhibitor list on the IMATS website and think about if there's anything you've been meaning to buy or want to check out pre-show. My friend Klaire had her list ready and her shop was much more successful than mine.
  • Have fun!

Now for the things I bought while I was there. I'm not going to talk too much about them, if you want any reviews etc. then just ask. But I'm sure you'll see many of them in use in future videos anyway.

Ben Nye Fresh Scab blood. Lovely and thick, perfect for wounds. And the Ben Nye Bruise Color Wheel.

Spray on Splatter Blood by Make-up International. And Ben Nye Black Tooth Color. I'm definitely buying more of these Tooth Colors. They're way more effective than the waxes I've previously used.

Glitter and more glitter! The black glitter is from Ben Nye and the orange glitter is from Paris Berlin: Professional Makeup.

Stargazer Eyeshadows. The blue and copper are beautifully pigmented. The white and black... Not so much.

Mehron E.Y.E Powder Palette 207. This isn't on their site but you can buy them separately here. And click here to see my latest tutorial using this palette!

Lime Crime Lipstick in Centrifuchsia. LOVE THIS. Mehron L.I.P Cream in Fiesta. ALSO LOVE THIS.

Ben Nye Lip Color in Vixen. And OCC Lip Tars in Interlace and Narcissus. Used in this video.

I also bought some sponges. How exciting. OH. And I bought some Space Ear Tips from Woochie Special FX. I'm going to be using them as elf ears though. Spoilers!

Did you go to IMATS this year? Will I see you there next year?! It was lovely meeting some of you! If we took photos together you should send them to me on Twitter. I'd love to see them. :)

Gunmetal

So like I said in the video, today's look was created all for the sake of using the colour Gunmetal! (From the Urban Decay Naked Palette.) I love silver/grey paired with blue, and you know I don't do subtle, so of course I went for the bright pop of colour underneath the eye! I really can't wait to try this with a pop of purple or yellow too.

I also realised afterwards it looks very similar to my Tropical Summer Makeup Tutorial. So if you're wanting a more colourful but similar look, check that out here!

Sweet and Simple

People keep asking me, 'Emma, can you do an everyday look?'. And I always get a bit confused because almost all of my looks are my 'everyday' looks! So I decided to create a look that is simple, quick, and not very heavy, because I'm guessing that's what people mean. I hope some of you find it useful!

Dark Sorceress Eyes

Sometimes I like to just sit and play around with makeup and see what I come up with. This was one of those times. I actually filmed this last week but the footage was all blurry because I still can't use a camera. But I loved this look far too much to let it go to waste, so I did it again! ^_^

Updates & Events

Hello everyone!

Last week I asked on my Facebook what kind of videos you'd like to see on my channel and then I spent the day planning the next six months worth of videos with your help. Now that I have a solid plan I think getting two videos out a week should be easier to do! So prepare for more Emma all up in your face some time soon. I'm just trying to get some backups filmed first for the weeks that I'm in London and unable to film anything. I'm also hoping to start doing one of my 'bigger' tutorials once a month. My character makeup and transformations take more money and time to create, so although they're my favourite to do, I can't do them more often than that. I mean, apart from Halloween. I can't wait for the videos I'm planning to do in October. Mehehe!

I'm moving house! Unfortunately not to London this time round. But still, moving house benefits my channel and life so much more than you can imagine. Currently my bedroom is in my mother's attic. I literally can't stand up in my room, and I'm only 5'3''! It makes filming videos an absolute nightmare most of the time, so I really can't wait to have a real sized room. Hahaha.

Now for news about places you can find me this summer! I'm attending IMATS London and Summer in the City this year! I'll be there both days for both events. Will I see you there? Please don't hesitate to come and say hi if you see me! ^_^

Smokey & Summery

You all know I recently fell in love with the colour Topaz from Sigma so it was bound to pop up again at some point! This is just a look I've been wearing recently and I wanted to share it with you.

Orange and Purple Sunset Eyes

How fun and colourful is today's look?! I absolutely love it. I very rarely wear colourful looks, but I'll make an exception for these sunset eyes. I bought some e.l.f eyeshadows a few weeks back (Sunset & Amethyst) and I've been dying to use them but just didn't know what to do, so I just sat down to film with them and a comment a subscriber left on one of my videos popped into my head; 'You should do a sunset look!' Boom. Inspired. (See, your comments do matter!)

Stahma Tarr Inspired Look

Recently I've been loving the TV show Defiance. Ever since watching the first episode Stahma Tarr has been my favourite character and I love love love how she looks, so I've been dying to do a video on the makeup. I decided to go for more of an inspired look because her makeup changes a little bit from week to week, but I'm sure if you wanted to cosplay her this kind of makeup would help make it really obvious who you are supposed to be. I hope you like it! And if you're not watching Defiance I would really recommend it!

Smokey Blue Galaxy Eyes

Last week I decided to buy a bunch of MUA makeup and I instantly fell in love with their Dusk til Dawn Palette. Like most palettes and makeup collections, there are hits and misses, but I'll post some swatches a some mini-reviews up on here when I'm back home from London. I hope you like the look I created! I decided to just wing it and I was really happy with the result.
